Windoze :-D

Haha... typical windows.. don't forget to check the mouse over... and for those of you who don't know what that is, bring ur mouse over the picture and wait until the text popout!!

I seriously hate it when i'm downloading something and the dialog box promises me that my download will be complete in 60 seconds... but then as i watch that time... thinking it will slowly count down second by second... it counts up almost exponentially until it reaches a point where it doesn't even show a time any more... and then at last when that blue progress bar is like 1 pixel away from the end it, i then see 1 second remaing... but yet it does not complete for another 2 minutes...

Why not just be like linux.. forget the eta... just show the percentage complete and total time elapsed and total downloaded... TRUE information, rather than estimations...

anyways thats enough of a rant for tonight..
talk to ya all later

So Yeah

I'm at work right now... Just thought i update one of my earlier posts..

The link to my website is now http://adh88ca.hopto.org:8080 . It needed to change slightly because of the port blocking that telus does...

I'm trying to think of something creative to do on it... It'll probably just sorta be a profile about myself or something...

Any ideas anyone?

Prayer

Hey everyone.... um, tomorrow's gonna be a busy day for me. I happen to have a big final in math tomorrow, and also a job interview. I would like to ask for your prayers for strength, courage, and that i may be able to but all my hope and trust in God that He is in control of both the outcome of my exam and also the interview. May His will be done in what ever happens.

Thanks

Drew

The Rant of Internet

There it is again. Some clueless FOOL talking about the "Information Superhighway." The don't know JACK about the Net. It's NOTHING like a Superhighway. That's a BAD metaphor.

Yeah, but suppose the metaphor ran the OTHER direction. Suppose the HIGHWAYS were like the NET.

All right!

A highway HUNDREDS of lanes wide. most with potholes. Privately operated bridges and overpasses. No highway patrol. A couple of rent-a-cops on bicycles with broken whisltes. 500 member VIGILANTE POSSES with nuclear weapons. 237 ON RAMPS at every intersection. NO SIGNS. Wanna get to Ensenada? Holler out the window at a passing truck to ask directions. AD HOC traffic laws. Some lanes would VOTE to make use by a single-occupant vehicle a CAPITAL OFFENSE on Monday through Friday between 7:00 and 9:00. Other lanes would just SHOOT you without a trial for talking on your car phone.

AOL would be a giant diesel-smoking BUS with hundreds of EBOLA victims and a TOILET spewing out on the road behind it. Throwing DEAD WOMBATS and rotten cabbage at the other cars, most of which have been ASSEMBLED AT HOME from kits. Some are 2.5 horsepower LAWNMOWER ENGINES with a top speed of nine miles an hour. Others burn NITROGLYCERIN and IDLE at 120.

No license tags. World War II BOMBER NOSE ART instead. Terrifying paintings of huge teeth or VAMPIRE EAGLES. Bumper-mounted MACHINE GUNS. Flip somebody the finger on this highway and get a WHITE PHOSPHORUS GRENADE up your tailpipe. Flatbed trucks with ANTI-AIRCRAFT MISSILE BATTERIES to shoot down the Traffic Watch helicopter. A little kid on a tricycle with a squirtgun filled with HYDROCHLORIC ACID.

Now THAT'S the way to run an Interstate Highway system.

projects...

Well, as of late i've started a few small projects to fill in some of that extra time that i don't have. They are as follows:

-I've gotten my hands on an older computer, Pentium4, 1Gb of Ram, 2 160Gb harddrives, that i am working on making my own little personal server to back up files, and such stuff as a server is used for making all my data accesible anywheres where the internet is accessible... I am using Ubuntu 8.10 server edition to do so, and its all in command line so its fun to learn.

-I found some really cheap Atmega8-16PU on ebay that i bought. these are small 8kb microcontrollers that i can program using the computer. At the moment i am designing an interface so that i can use the serial port on a computer to connect with the AVR(microcontroller), and then use them for some interesting small projects of which i haven't decided yet. Seeing i'm a big fan of open sourcing, i will be uploading schematics, source code, pictures, and such when it comes available.

so yeah other then that, i'm spending many hours in a week doing lab preps, which consist of alot of programming in C and assembly... the C stuff is fine but the assembly is torture because it is so anti-intuitive... but i'm making it through quite well in these courses, and the other classes are just lots and lots of math, and algebra, and some calculus, some circuit analysis and design... so yeah lots of fun...

well enjoy...

Haven't you noticed??

"Saying ‘I notice you’re a nerd’ is like saying, ‘Hey, I notice that you’d rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you’d rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?’ In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even ‘lame’ is kind of lame. Saying ‘You’re lame’ is like saying ‘You walk with a limp.’ Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he’s done all right for himself."

So i promised to use this thing more often….

So, Hello again everyone… yes I'm still around, i visit my blog often but seldom do i updated it… well, 2009 has rolled around so, before February comes, i am going to resolve to be a little bit more faithful to my blog and its viewers (if there are any of those).

Well for now I'll just give a brief update about what I've been up to lately. First thing i want to note is that Johanna DeHaan and I are now in a relationship with each other!! She’s is a young lady i met at youth camp a few years ago, and over the past year and a bit I've gotten to know her a little bit better, and then through God’s amazing providence He brought us together again in Mexico this past winter and as of Jan 1, 2009, we began this new step in life, learning more about each other to see what purpose God has for us in our lives together. We hope that through our relationship that God may continue to be the center of our lives, and that we may honor, and glorify Him in all things.

And yes, Mexico was amazing, not only for the reason just mention ;-) but also because of how we saw God working through us and among us!! It truly was incredible. In the time that we were there, we managed to build 2 small homes for 2 families from the church there. Just seeing the gratitude for what we were doing for those families, even though these homes were quite small compared to our standards. And then I think about how ungrateful we are for what we have, and we have so much compared to them. It certainly gives another perspective on gratefulness. We had a great time fellowshipping with the rest of our group and with the Mexicans even through the language barrier.

So me at the moment. Well currently i have made it successfully to term 3 here at BCIT, in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Last semester, I don’t want to talk about it, I’m glad its over. This semester though, seems like it should be interesting, I have courses in Pulses, PLC’s, PLD’s, Laplace Transforms, PC Architecture and Microcontrollers. So yeah, I'll be spending lots of time this semester doing lab preps and stuff. maybe, just maybe i can keep this think up to date through all the work i have to do this semester.

Well, its a wrap, bedtime for me, i have a nice 2 hour long lecture tomorrow morning about PLC’s so i should get some rest before that… I have a feeling it might be one of those double coffee lectures… ah well we’ll see what happens.

Well good night all.
